About Ghostwriters

Ghostwriters are professional writers who produce works under someone else's name, with their consent. In most cases, the ghostwriter is employed by either a celebrity or an individual who may not have the talent or the time to write, such as the celebrity's autobiography.

In addition to celebrities, countless politicians also employ ghostwriters, usually to write letters, this is due to their many duties, they lack the necessary time to respond to the large volume of correspondence they receive. However, the politician
and celebrities may actually sign these letters themselves, or give approval for them to be autopen. A ghostwriter is not a speechwriter, while a ghostwriter can write speeches. A speechwriter has the added gift to provide the right word to
motivate the audience.

Sometimes the ghostwriter will receive partial credit being signified by "with" or "as told to.? Credit may also appear as a "thanks" in a foreword or introduction. However, if the writer's name is clearly acknowledged in the work as published, then this is not ghostwriting but rather collaboration between the
two individuals.

Many are under the false impression that because a book was ghostwritten, the credited author did not make any significant contribution to the work. This is often not the case. Many times the ghostwriter is employed to simply polish, and edit the
material, or they may work directly with the credited author to brainstorm the book from start to finish. However, in such cases as with the novelist V.C. Andrews, her estate hired ghostwriters to continue producing novels under her name and in a voice simulate to her works after her death.

A similar concept is the house pseudonym, in which the publisher owns the rights to that pseudonym and will hire several authors to produce works under the pseudonym
as a way of disguise the fact that it the works are not being produced by a single author. However, it is important to understand that the pseudonym does not belong
to and is not a real individual.
